Warehouse Management

  • Designed in-store systems that allowed selected information to be processed on the personal computers in the stores for a specialty retail chain in Illinois.  This included an interactive markdown system and a warehouse-to-store shipment manifest system
  • Modified the application programs and data bases to improve the throughput allowing the company to continue with the existing computer equipment for two to three years until new hardware and packaged software systems were installed.
  • Installed the JDA & Associates retail and warehouse management system for a specialty retail chain in Illinois.
  • Redesigned the flow of product through the Distribution Center and developed productivity standards at both the individual and unit levels for a specialty retail chain in Illinois. Changes resulted in reduction of payroll as a percent of throughput (receipts + shipments) from .55% in 1991 to .38% in 1993.  The first year savings (1991 vs. 1992) for the Distribution Center was $812,000, including payroll savings of $555,000
  • Managed the conversion of a retail warehouse operation through the installation of a Warehouse Management System for a retailer in Florida.
  • Lead the recovery of a warehouse operation for a start-up cosmetic retailer in Maryland.
  • Reduced the distribution center expenses $3.6 million by consolidating two facilities into one and improving the internal processes for a specialty retail chain in Texas.
  • Modified the processes from receiving the product to picking and shipping to the stores resulting in reducing throughput in the building two days.  A byproduct of the changes was that the accuracy of the inventory was reduced from a 1.2 million shrink to a 75,000 shrink in a three year period on a flow through of 350 million.
